Elementary schools test reading skills several times a year, and the results come home with labels like LNF, PSF, NWF, WRF, and ORF. Most families are never told what those letters mean. This handout explains each skill in plain language so parents can understand their child’s progress and ask better questions at conferences.
Teachers can print it and send it home with assessment results, or hand it out at conferences. It is available in English and in Spanish.

Teachers and parents are welcome to print and share both versions.
